SP. “Who needs to stay humble now”, “Bro is totally finished” – Fans react as Erling Haaland misses penalty for Man City in Everton clash

Fans blasted iconic Manchester City striker Erling Haaland on social media after he missed a penalty in his side’s Premier League clash with Everton on Thursday, December 26.

Pep Guardiola’s side welcomed the Toffees to the Etihad as they look to end a run of three winless games in the league. Bernando Silva gave the home fans something to cheer about, as he opened the scoring in the 14th minute via a Jeremy Doku assist.

However, Sean Dyche’s side restored parity in the 36th minute through Iliman Ndiaye as the first half ended 1-1. In the 51st minute, Manchester City were awarded a penalty after Vitali Mykolenko fouled Savinho inside the box.

Erling Haaland stepped up to take the ensuing penalty kick, but his strike toward the bottom left corner was saved by Jordan Pickford.

Fans took to X to slam the Norwegian international for the missed penalty kick. One fan mocked the Manchester City star, writing:

“Who needs to stay humble now.”

“Bro is totally finished at this point,” a second fan tweeted.

“Worst striker in the world,” another fan chimed in.

“This is a curse!!!,” another fan posted.

Erling Haaland has struggled in front of goal amid Manchester City’s poor form. He has scored just twice in his last 10 league games.

Erling Haaland still in the race for Premier League Golden Boot despite goalscoring struggles

Erling Haaland is still one of the leading goalscorers in the Premier League despite his drop in form in recent weeks. The 24-year-old has netted 13 goals and created one assist in 18 league games.

Only Mohammed Salah (15) has scored more league goals than the City No.9 this season. Haaland current position on the goalscorers chart is a result of his brilliant start to the season.

The Norway star bagged 10 goals in his first five games of the season, including consecutive hat-tricks against Ipswich Town and West Ham United. However, since scoring in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal in September he has suffered a mini-goal drought, scoring only three goals in 13 games.
